I just. I was spoiled for this one, and I was pretty sure I was going to hate it.
But then I didn't. Except for the parts that I did. Which weren't the parts I was expecting, at all.
I thought this whole "hey, a new brother" plot twist was some stupid Network machination for just in case the boys wanted to quit after five years, but the show was still getting good ratings. You know, a back up plan for SPN 2.0. I was all ready to be jaded and disappointed.
But, the kid came on, and he started talking, and I liked him. And the more he was on, the more I was, "OK. I can live with him. Hey, he's pretty cool! Yeah, OK, he can ride in the Impala and show up to help out next season. Three Musketeers, W00T!"
And then in the manner of every. Single. Damn. Character. That I bond with on this show, he's dead in his first episode! Dead dead dead. ARGH.
(OK, that's an exaggeration born out of frustration. Bobby's still here; Ellen's not dead; Chuck's still breathing; we got Pamela three times before she croaked, Ava and Andy twice; Tamara's out there somewhere, soldering on without Isaac; Maggie Mackenzie -- er, Officer Kathleen -- is still out there maintaining the right, and... OK, so maybe only half of the guest cast that I like dies immediately. Still.)

Also of the bad for me:
- Cas. It has to stop. (It's not going to; somebody thinks it's cute, probably a lot of somebodies. YMMV, but it's making me cringe.) ANGELS ARE NOT YOUR BEER BUDS, GUYS; ixnay with the nicknames. I'm irreligious, and I think it's disrespectful.
- When are they going to like each other again? I can't take this anymore!
So, hey. Did anybody else want to thunk Dean on the head in that last scene? Dude, duh. I mean, we've know that since Season One. Sheesh.
