Judges are Supposed to be Above Personal Bigotry
I'm gutted.
There's no way in hell -- no WAY -- that the California Supreme Court would have upheld Prop 8 if it had been the majority trying to ban something like interracial marriage. The only explanation for their decision today is that they, themselves, are homophobic bigots who personally believe the majority is in the right on this one. And that's just an immoral basis to make a decision on, and wrong.
::is ashamed of my State::
I'm too old to be allowed to emmigrate on my own; any Canadians (of any gender, I'm quite flexible) out there looking for a spouse? (&hearts &hearts &hearts Canadia -- especially B.C., which is gloriously beautiful. If maybe a little cold.)

I now live in beautiful BC and am (finally) a citizen here. I am already married, but even if I weren't, Canada does not grant citizenship to spouses. A spouse would still have to apply for citizenship. Weird, huh?

Would they kick a spouse out? ::is curious::

I would like to see a nice big gay boycott of California. No more Disneyland trips, no more SF tours. And would like to see liberal-minded organizations refuse to host events in California--esp. organizations with members who are in same-sex marriages in the states where it's legal.
"Sorry, no ACLU conference in Los Angeles this year, bringing tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars to the area in a few days; one of our keynote speakers is married to a guy, and he wouldn't feel safe in CA because his spouse's rights wouldn't be recognized in case of an emergency."

I do like your interfaith example, though.
And, yes, please, to the boycott. I hate that money has more influence than ideals, but I'll take the win any way I can.
