Need Help re: Downloading the Undownloadable
Somebody out there knows (or knows somebody else who knows) how to download undownloadable video.
Help?
I'm going to be working with a Professor who's studying the impacts of subtle racist language in the news. For online sources, she wants to save a local copy just in case the original source disappears. This isn't a problem when the source is text-based, but can become a problem when the source is video footage.
I'm using Firefox. I've been playing with footage from The Daily Show, just because I know that my Download Helper add-on doesn't see video streams from there, and I can't figure it out. I know there's gotta be a way.
Thanks, y'all.

I also remembered reading somewhere that the url for the "hidden" vid should show up on the 'view page source' page. I tried that with the main Daily Show page, and there were sooooo many links, I was having trouble sorting through them all. (I was scanning for .flv file types, but I don't know if that's what I should be scanning for. Hmmm.)
I do appreciate your help, though (♥). You used a different search term combo than I did, and so got some different results I can try. It's just looking like I'm going to have to keep slogging through them all with my fingers crossed.

I'm just using the Daily Show as a test site because (1) I know it's set up keep the video files from downloading, which are the kinds of files I have to figure out how to download anyway, and (2) I get to watch lots of good stuff while I'm fighting with software! ::g::

I have not heard of WM Capture. Nothing else has worked so far, so I'm delighted to find your suggestion. Thank you--I'll give it a try! ♥
