I get so confused when I see tags like "Sam/Dean" or "John/Rodney" AND the tag "Gen" on the same story.

Sub-textual pairing? Paired but no sexin'? Can be read as either, depending on whether or not the slash goggles are on?

Confused, I tell you.

Dude, I KNOW. I never know what's happening there. Inquiring minds want to know. Do they mean both characters are in the fic but not together? Because a comma would suffice, people. A G-rated slash fic? Or any of the above that you mentioned?
