Supernatural on Sale at Amazon

If you want but haven't yet got any season of SPN, they're on sale at Amazon this week for $13-$15 per season (depending on the season, more $$ for blu-ray but still really cheap). (Sets at Amazon.UK are deeply discounted, too.)
Wait. Shit. Are we boycotting Amazon? I distinctly remember queer-related asshattery -- have they resolved that yet? Damn.

Date: 2009-11-26 07:22 pm (UTC)The problem: they tweaked their search settings so that "sexual" content didn't show up on many searches. The reason it was a problem: All GBLT content was tagged "sexual," but straight content was not. This included "50 years of Playboy photography" and "diary of a stripper" books, while Oscar Wilde books were removed because apparently, a gay *author* is enough to get books tagged as GBLT (which, of course, means "sexual," where straight romances are not.)
For a while, searching for "homosexuality" on the main page got you a listing full of "how to cure your gay child" books. It still gets those, but now it gets a few others as well.
I haven't decided how to deal with Amazon; it's hard to boycott the place with the lowest prices by 20% or more. But yeah, they're still asshats, and they never did say exactly what happened, nor apologize for the anti-queer discrimination. (They apologized for something like a programming glitch. They danced around the whole topic of how books are assigned categories that got them caught in the programming glitch.)

On my budget, I just can't justify spending $59.98 (the list price) or even $39.98 (about where the usual sale price is) for one season of Show (which my daughter would desperately like as her Holiday present). But -- $14.99! But -- they're asshats! But -- $14.99!
::sigh::
